RULES & REGULATIONS

I. TOURNAMENTS

 

Aruba Open Beach Tennis Championships 2024 offers various tournaments

(See Program for dates and times)

 

  1. Men's and Women's singles (Pro, Advanced, Intermediate, Beginners & Masters (50+)

  2. Mixed doubles (Pro, Advanced, Intermediate, Beginners)

  3. Team cup (Advanced, Intermediate, Beginners). Participants of the ITF Sand Series tournament can not play team cup!

  4. Amateur men's and women's doubles (Advanced, Intermediate, Beginners)

  5. Men's and women's masters doubles (50+)

  6. Juniors  boys and girls doubles 10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under and 16 & Under

  7. ITF BTJ100 Juniors boys and girls doubles 18 & Under (and consolation tournament)

  8. ITF SAND SERIES 75 Qualifying draw (and consolation tournament)

  9. ITF SAND SERIES 75 Main draw (and consolation tournament)

 

IT IS ONLY ALLOWED TO REGISTER ONE TIME FOR EACH TOURNAMENT!!

 

II. MINIMUM AGE PER TOURNAMENT

 

  1. Singles: 14 years - Masters: 50 years

  2. Mixed doubles: 14 years, at least 1 player must be 16 years or older

  3. Juniors 10U Category – born between 1 January 2014 – 31 December 2016

  4. Juniors 12U Category - born between 1 January 2012 – 31 December 2014

  5. Juniors 14U Category - born between 1 January 2010 – 31 December 2012

  6. Juniors 16U Category - born between 1 January 2008 – 31 December 2011

  7. ITF BTJ100 Juniors 18U - born between 1 January 2006 – 31 December 2010

  8. ITF SAND SERIES 75 Qualifying draw (and consolation tournament): 14 years

  9. ITF SAND SERIES 75 Main draw (and consolation tournament): 14 years

  10. Amateur doubles: 14 years, at least 1 player must be 16 years or older

 

III. TOURNAMENT FORMATS

 

   1. Singles

a) Pro singles: First 8 players on acceptance list are direct accepted into the main draw of 24. Up to 64 additional players play a qualifying tournament in round robin groups of 4 players. The winners of each group advance to the main draw. The group stage and 1st round of the main draw are played on Monday November 11. Elimination rounds including semifinals, and finals are played on Tuesday November 12.

All matches are 1 set till 7, with tiebreak at 6-6

 

b) Amateur singles: Round robin group stage of 4 teams each, played on Monday November 11, the numbers 1 and 2 of each group continues to play in the elimination rounds on Tuesday November 12.

All matches are 1 set till 7, with tiebreak at 6-6

 

   2. Mixed doubles

a) Pro mixed doubles: First 8 teams on acceptance list are direct accepted into the main draw of 24.

Up to 64 additional teams qualify on Tuesday, November 12 in round robin groups of 4 teams. The winners of each group advance to the main draw. The group stage and 1st round of the main draw are played on Tuesday November 12.Elimination rounds including semifinals, and finals are played on Wednesday November 13.

All matches are 1 set till 7, with tiebreak at 6-6

 

a) Amateur mixed doubles: Round robin group stage of 4 teams each, played on Tuesday November 12, elimination rounds on Wednesday November 13.

All matches are 1 set till 7, with tiebreak at 6-6

 

   3. Team Cup

a) All levels team cup: Max 4 players per team. Round robin group stage of 3 teams each, played on Wednesday November 13. Each group match consists of 1 set men’s doubles, 1 set women’s doubles and 1 set mixed doubles.  The numbers 1 and 2 of each Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced group qualify for the elimination rounds. The elimination rounds are played on Thursday November 14. During elimination rounds, mixed doubles is only played if necessary. Participants of the ITF Sand Series tournament can not play team cup!

All sets are played till 6, with a tiebreaker till 7 at 6-6

 

   4. Juniors Doubles 10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under and 16 & Under

a)  Round robin group stage of 4 teams each, followed by elimination rounds (one day tournaments). Complete tournament will be played on Thursday November 14.

All matches are 1 set till 7, with tiebreak at 6-6

 

​   5. Masters Doubles

a) Men and women: Round robin group stage of 4 teams each, on Wednesday November 13. Elimination rounds are on Thursday November 14. Masters doubles starts Wednesday at the same time as the elimination rounds of the mixed doubles tournament. Registering for both tournaments is at your own risk! Late arrival at a match will result in a default loss.

All matches are 1 set till 7, with tiebreak at 6-6

​   6. Amateur Doubles

a) All levels men and women: Round robin group stage on Friday, November 15 and Saturday November 16. Elimination rounds on Sunday November 17.

All matches are 1 set till 7, with tiebreak at 6-6

​   7. ITF BTJ100 18 & Under

a) Boys and girls: Up to 32 teams with players born between 1 January 2006 – 31 December 2010 will be accepted into the main draw. If more teams register before the deadline on October 31, 14:00 hours, local time, a qualifying tournament will be held on Thursday November 14. Sign in for the main draw is on Thursday November 14, between 16:00 and 18:00 hours. Participants of the BTJ100 are also allowed to participants in the Sand Series 75, but NOT in the amateur doubles tournament or other junior doubles tournament.

All matches are 2 tie-break sets till 6, with a match tie-break till 10 at 1 set all.

 

   8. ITF SAND SERIES 75 Doubles Qualifying Tournament

a) Men and women: 26 direct acceptances and 6 wild cards. Sign in on Tuesday November 12 between 16:00 and 18:00 hours, local time. 8 teams can qualify for the main draw. All matches are played on Wednesday November 13. Consolation tournament starts on Thursday November 14.

All matches are 2 tie-break sets till 6, with a match tie-break till 10 at 1 set all.

 

   9. ITF SAND SERIES 75 Doubles Main Draw

a) Men and women: 20 direct acceptances, 8 qualifiers and 4 wild cards. Sign in on Wednesday November 13 between 16:00 and 18:00 hours, local time. R32 on Thursday November 14, R16 on Friday November 15, quarter finals and semifinals on Saturday November 16. Finals on Sunday November 17. Consolation tournament for teams eliminated in the 1st round starts on Friday November 16.

All matches are 2 tie-break sets till 6, with a match tie-break till 10 at 1 set all.
